Unity Cup 2016

Unity Cup 2016 is a project that AFL Victoria runs in conjunction with the Australian Federal Police and the Essendon Football Club.

The Unity Cup is an AFL 9’s tournament to be held on the 20th of March 2016 at JJ Holland Park on Kensington Road, which brings together teams from all around Melbourne of different cultures, religions and beliefs.

It allows new Australians to engage in Australian culture and demonstrate some of their own in a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

The Unity Cup is run in unison with the Kensington Multicultural Festival which features a market and food stalls.south asian afl carnival

This all goes together to create a day to remember and leave a positive impression on people that would not traditionally be involved in Australian Rules football.

An AFL 9’s team is made up of 10-12 players between the age of 15-21 and no previous football experience is required.

Like last year Shaheens Sporting & Social Club will be participating in this carnival and we are looking for players. This will be a great opportunity for the players to create dialogue, friendship, awareness of different cultures and healthy living. The players will also have the opportunity to learn from fellow players and qualified coaches.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Pakistani and Afghani Community to create dialogue, friendship, awareness of different cultures and healthy living. If you are interested in securing your place in the team for the Cup please complete the player registration form by 10th February 2016
